Pep Guardiola to run the rule over Spanish starlets Aleix and Manu Garcia with youngsters in contention to travel on club’s pre-season tour to stake a first team place
- Young pair Aleix and Manu Garcia may join Manchester City’s pre-season tour
- Both midfielders had been loan with Manu at Toulouse and Aleix at Girona
- Premier League champions will visit China, Hong Kong and Japan this month
Manchester City are considering including young midfielders Aleix and Manu Garcia on their pre-season tour of the Far East.
The pair were both out on loan last season but are back with Pep Guardiola’s squad for training this week.
Manu Garcia, an attacking midfielder, was at Ligue 1 side Toulouse last year, playing 18 times.
Aleix Garcia returned from loan at Girona and may feature for Manchester City in pre-season
He previously spent two campaigns with NAC Breda, winning promotion to the Eredivisie in 2017.
A more defensively-minded player, Aleix Garcia, no relation, has been with City’s sister club Girona for the past two seasons.
Guardiola is weighing up whether to take both away with the team as the Premier League champions jet off to China over the weekend.
Fellow youngster Manu Garcia, also a midfielder, is also in contention for the trip
They face West Ham in the Premier League Asia Trophy in Nanjing next Wednesday before playing either Newcastle or Wolves in Shanghai three days later.
The trip has two further legs, taking in Hong Kong before the tour ends in Japan. The current political unrest in Hong Kong is unlikely to alter City’s plans.
Guardiola will be able to call on a raft of international stars, with those who played in the Nations League – including Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker – all expected to report back for pre-season towards the end of the week.
