The 31-year-old forward is currently enjoying a loan spell in Ligue 1 with Monaco.

Villa are keen on acquiring the services of the Algeria international and have made an offer to take him on loan, according to Le10Sport.

However the fact that Slimani is currently on loan in France until June could reportedly be a stumbling block. 

Villa boss Dean Smith needs attacking reinforcements this month after striker Wesley was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee ligament injury.

Slimani has notched seven goals and provided seven assists in 14 appearances for Monaco this campaign.
