Sean Dyche has quashed talk of Jay Rodriguez making a shock move to Inter Milan, branding it one of the strangest he has heard.
Rumours circulated yesterday that the Italian giants could be lining up a surprising January move for the forward to expand their attacking options, according to Calcio Mercato.
But manager Dyche was quick to shut down those rumours and suggest that Rodriguez, who only joined Burnley for £10million in the summer, would be staying put.
Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez is a surprise target for Serie A high-fliers Inter Milan in January
‘I’ve heard from strange ones in my time here and that’s in the top five,’ said Dyche when asked if the one-time England international would be joining the Serie A high-fliers.
‘He’s only just joined us for one and I don’t know where that one has come from.’
Rodriguez is yet to start a game for Burnley in the Premier League this season but scored his first league goal for the club off the bench in the Clarets’ 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
Inter Milan, who are flying high at the top of Serie A, recruited from the Premier League to bolster their attacking options this summer, bringing in £73million striker Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez on loan from Manchester United.
Lukaku has started well in Serie A, netting three times in seven games so far but it is believed manager Antonio Conte wants another forward to take some of the scoring burden off the Belgian.
