France manager Didier Deschamps has praised young midfielder Matteo Guendouzi but has warned against expecting too much of the talented youngster.
The 20-year-old won his first call up to the national side following the injury of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
The combative midfielder is highly thought of at Arsenal and has enjoyed a strong start to the new season, putting in an excellent display to help his side secure a point against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.

And Deschamps has said of his excitement for the future of Guendouzi. He said: ‘He’s the modern midfielder, box to box as they say there, with a lot of power and technical quality too. He’s there. What I expect from young people is that they bring this freshness, this dynamism.
‘He is a very young player but with a very big potential.’
However, the World Cup winning manager and player has moved to lower expectations of the youngster.
‘Do not ask too much,’ said Deschamps. ‘He’s a young player, who is still the Espoirs generation, who plays a lot of matches with where there is strong competition,’
