  • David Alaba will leave Bayern Munich when his contract ends in the summer
  • Austrian defender, 28, has been linked with several top European clubs
  • Reports in Germany suggested Real Madrid and Barcelona are only options
  • But Alaba’s agent Pini Zahavi has refuted that, saying Alaba has yet to choose
  • Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also linked with the versatile defender

David Alaba’s agent Pini Zahavi has played down suggestions the defender is only interested in a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The Austria international, 28, is set to leave Bayern Munich after 13 years when his contract expires in the summer.

This has led to a flurry of speculation over his next move with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea mentioned as other potential destinations.

Sky Sport Deutschland journalist Max Bielefeld reported that Alaba had rejected a sizeable offer from PSG and also rejected the chance to play for Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea in favour of a move to Spain.

However, Zahavi subsequently played down the assertion that Spanish giants Real and Barcelona were now the front-runners to sign him.

He told Diario AS: ‘David has to choose who wins the race. But we are still talking with other clubs. There is no deadline.’

Indeed, it has been suggested that Alaba’s future club won’t be determined until after Austria’s Euro 2020 campaign. They have been drawn with Holland, North Macedonia and Ukraine in Group C.

AS point out that Real would have to move on either Sergio Ramos or Raphael Varane in order to make space in their defensive roster for Alaba.

France international Varane’s contract expires in 2022 and so Real could sell him this summer to ensure maximum profits from his sale.

Ramos, 34, appears to be no closer to a contract renewal at the Bernabeu – he wants a two-year extension to his deal but Real have only tabled a one-year offer.

Barcelona’s new president Joan Laporta views Alaba as a potential headline summer arrival but reports have suggested Real remain in pole position.
