Lens fans lined the street to welcome their team bus to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis ahead of their Ligue 1 clash with Lille.

Supporters defied social distancing guidelines to congregate outside the stadium – letting off flares and chanting as the club’s bus approached.

The majority of fans were, however, filmed wearing masks as they shared their support for the home side ahead of their all-important fixture.

The fans decision to travel to the ground comes after the government eased their restrictions on Monday.

As of now, French Citizens can travel further than 10km (six miles) from their homes and will no longer need a valid reason for venturing out.

However, the nationwide evening curfew remains in force – restricting travel between 7pm to 6am.

As for the game, Lille need just three more wins to take the Ligue 1 title off of Paris Saint-Germain, while Lens will be looking to cause an upset.

Lens are currently sitting fifth in the table, having recently suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the leaders, PSG.

Tension remain high for the game, as Gael Kakuta admitted he would rather see PSG win the title than their bitter rivals Lille.

Kakuta says Lens are ‘focused’ on the job ahead and that they are going to try prevent Lille from picking up the title.

He said in their pre-match press conference: ‘We are focused on us, it is just a bonus. We can aim to sit higher, we are going to try to do so.

‘And if we can stop Lille from winning the league title, that would be wonderful too. I prefer for PSG to become champions.’Â
