Katie Price reveals her son Harvey refuses to visit ex Peter Andre in emotional new memoir

Katie Price revealed her 2009 split from ex husband Peter Andre had a big impact on her son Harvey, 19.

The former glamour model, 43, opened up in her emotional memoir that the teenager- who has Prader-Willi Syndrome, autism and blindness- refuses to meet with Peter.

She admitted in her new book Katie Price: Harvey and Me that ‘even mentioning Pete’s name to Harvey stresses him out.’

Peter was very close to Harvey and helped to raise him alongside the TV personality during their four-year marriage.

The star wrote: ‘The split from Pete really upset Harvey. It must have been frustrating for him at the time because he couldn’t express how he felt.

‘But now he can and he remembers a lot more than you’d think. It’s really sad.’

Katie claimed that Peter’s visits to Harvey ‘fizzled out’ because the teenager refused to see her ex.

She continued: ‘I began to notice a change in Harvey, I’d say things like, ‘Do you want to go see Daddy Peter today?’ and he’d shout, ‘No!’ So then I’d be like, ‘But he has a cake waiting for you.’

‘But he wasn’t interested and he’d start kicking off, it’s probably because the visits were starting to fizzle out and Harvey could sense that.

The former singer mentioned that whenever Harvey see’s Peter he wants to play the clip of the couple singing A Whole New World.

Katie said: ‘Every single time, I want the ground to swallow me up.

‘It’s bad enough having to listen back to it, never mind haven’t to listen back to it standing next to Pete!’

The couple, who are parents to Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, split in 2009 and Peter has since remarried wife Emily and has welcomed two more children, Amelia, seven, and Theo, five.

Katie has been opening up on life with Harvey in the book and also touched on the teenager’s biological dad Dwight Yorke- who abandoned him as a baby.

She claimed Dwight ‘disowned’ their son over dinner in 2012.

The star and the former premier league footballer, 49, briefly had a romance in 2001, and broke up soon after Katie fell pregnant with her eldest child.

In her new book, she details how Dwight apparently refused to see Harvey after he had asked to see his father over a meal in Cheshire village Alderley Edge.

Katie wrote in her book, serialised in The Mirror: ‘I walked over to him and he didn’t really say much – it was so awkward. He hadn’t even bought me a drink! But that was typical Dwight.’

She claimed that it was after she arrived that he said he didn’t want to see the pair of them anymore.

She penned: ‘Even after he said that, I was still trying to be persistent. I wanted Harvey to have his dad in his life, but he just wasn’t interested in any of it. ‘This isn’t about me. This is your son and your flesh and blood,’

‘But he just didn’t give a s**t. There’s only so much you can try before you realise you’re flogging a dead horse. I got up and left and that’s the last time I saw him. I haven’t heard from him since.’

MailOnline has contacted Dwight and Katie’s representatives for further comment.

Katie has cared for her son who has autism, partial blindness and Prader-Willi Syndrome.

When Katie first fell pregnant with Harvey, Dwight denied he was the father, until a DNA test proved his paternity.

Dwight previously slammed Katie in his own book Born To Score in 2009 after he claimed that she did not let him see Harvey.

He wrote: ‘From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible. I am not going to hear any more that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare.’

The book extract comes after Katie’s recent stint in rehab following a drink-and-drugs drive crash.

Katie is facing jail after pleading guilty to a slew of motoring offences and has checked into The Priory rehabilitation clinic to treat her drink and drug problems.

The star crashed her BMW while double the drink-drive limit after leaving her home to allegedly hunt for drugs during an all-night alcohol and cocaine bender which came after she rowed with Carl.

She then admitted charges of drink-driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.

She could face prison after being charged with driving while unfit to drive through drink, using a motor vehicle on a public place without third-party insurance and driving while disqualified.

Katie was told that her sentencing had been deferred for 11 weeks until December 15 to allow her to have treatment at The Priory and speak to the probation service.

Chair of the bench Julie Hutton told her she could leave but warned her against driving in the interim, saying: ‘You are free to go and good luck at the Priory.’

The crash came after police were called to Katie’s Essex home at around 1.30am on August 23, where a man was arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and coercive and controlling behaviour.

Katie was taken to hospital and was pictured the following day with bruises to her face and an injured lip.

Katie said she was attacked as she watched TV – forcing her to flee in terror to her son Harvey’s nearby home.

In August, shortly after her attack, Katie reportedly told friends she ‘cannot face’ the prospect of a court appearance.

Friends of the mother-of-five reportedly told the Sun that she is ‘mentally fragile’ and ‘cannot face’ a court appearance.
