Bayern Munich ended Freiburg’s unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season with a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena that kept them top of the table.
Leon Goretzka scored half-an-hour in to set Julian Nagelsmann’s side on their way before Robert Lewandowski netted his 23rd of the campaign with 15 minutes left.
Janik Haberer scored a late consolation for Freiburg but their impressive undefeated opening to the season came to an end.

Lewandowski scored his 23rd goal of the season in his 17th game to double Bayern’s lead
Freiburg had started to gain attention across Europe as they stood alongside Liverpool, Napoli and AC Milan as the only remaining unbeaten sides in the major leagues.
But this was always going to be the sternest test to date for Christian Streich’s side and Bayern wasted little time in creating chances as they settled into their rhythm.
Freiburg keeper Mark Flekken pulled off fine early saves to deny Niklas Sule and then Alphonso Davies as Bayern signalled their intentions to cut the upstarts down to size.
They duly found a deserved opening goal after half-an-hour with Goretzka unselfishly played in to score by Thomas Muller after Freiburg carelessly lost possession not he edge of the box.

The visitors decided to sit deep and absorb Bayern’s pressure after half-time while looking for a counter-punch but they almost conceded a second when Goretzka stuck the post with a low shot following Leroy Sane’s dummy.
Goretzka came close moments later but Lewandowski made sure of Bayern’s win in the 75th minute with his 60th goal of the calendar year, a close range finish after good work by Davies down the left.
Though Haberer pulled one back in stoppage time, Bayern held out for another win.
