Gary Anderson took aim at his critics as event organisers sweated on Saturday’s quarter-finals going ahead without any Covid disruptions.

Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall and Vincent van der Voort have pulled out due to positive tests. Van Gerwen was furious over what he perceived to be slack protocols, calling Alexandra Palace a ‘Covid bomb’.

Tournament chiefs hit back, insisting they will not change protocols and that the competition will continue as is until its conclusion on Monday, unless the Government impose a lockdown.

Two-time champion Anderson, who faces Luke Humphries tonight, insists he no longer practises because he is a ‘natural’ player. ‘I just play darts,’ said the Scot.

‘I don’t practise. People call me a liar. I’m telling you now: do one. If you want to see, come and live with me for six months.

‘Stick us in the Big Brother house for six months, not a dartboard in sight, bring us out and play and we will see how good the other lot are. Then you talk about a natural darts player.
