Barcelona have ‘made contact’ with Toulouse centre-back Issa Diop to discover his future plans.
There is uncertainty surrounding Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen ahead of the summer transfer window and the Catalan side are looking at alternatives.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have spoken to Diop in the past few days to gauge his situation, according to Sport.
Issa Diop is one young central defender Barcelona are tracking ahead of the summer
Having tracked the 21-year-old for a number of years in Ligue 1, Barcelona are one of a number of clubs interested.
Diop is 6ft 3in and possesses impressive pace, though Barcelona are also keeping tabs on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano and Thilo Kehler from Schalke.
No doubt Barcelona would like to hold onto Umtiti who has been a dominant force at the back this season.
Samuel Umtiti could leave the Catalan side if a club meet his release clause
The Frenchman has a £50million release clause with plenty of suitors including Manchester United, who are willing to pay the fee.
Jose Mourinho is interested in the 24-year-old who still has over three years left on his existing deal.
Umtiti wants a huge wage increase and Barcelona may look towards Diop this summer if they deem his demands unreasonable.
