The honoring of Ajax for winning the national championship is Thursday on the Museumplein in the capital. The team from Amsterdam can hardly miss the 34th national title after the 4-1 win at Utrecht and the loss of PSV against AZ.
Wednesday evening is the last premier league game of this season. Ajax will play against De Graafschap in Doetinchem at 7.30 p.m. The next day the team will be honored from 4 pm in the center of the city. The preparations for the party start tomorrow, reports the municipality of Amsterdam.
The last time Ajax was honored on Museumplein was in 2011, when the club won the 30th national title. That led to riots. In recent years, after winning a title or cup, a celebration was held at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.
Mayor Halsema said a week and a half ago that there is no longer a taboo on a ceremony at Museumplein.
