German tennis player suspended for gambling | Tennis
The so-called integrity of the tennis world (TIU) found out that between 2012 and 2015, Gelhardt had used up to 280 times via gambling websites money on the outcome of a game, something that is forbidden for professional tennis players.
The 23-year-old German did not gamble at his own matches, according to the TIU research. Gelhardt is still experiencing a little successful career for the time being. The current number 1065 of the world is still waiting for his first tournament win and barely collected 10,000 dollars (8700 euro) in prize money.
Half of his suspension and fine are conditional, which means that Gelhardt can play tennis again from 16 December.
