Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged his side to create new moments that will go down in the history of the club against Manchester City in the Champions League.

He conceded that his side ‘need to be proud of our history but we need to create our own history’ as he insisted ‘the boys are ready’ for the showdown against City.

The Reds host Pep Guardiola’s side on Wednesday night in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

In his pre-match press conference, Klopp said: ‘We need to be proud of our history but we need to create our own history.

‘You have to do your own things. The boys are ready.’
