Malcom’s last minute U-turn on a move to Roma was an act of ‘revenge’ according to his agent, as the player instead opted to join Barcelona.
Leonardo Cornacini, Malcolm’s agent, was unhappy with Roma for they way they handled another deal earlier in the window, claiming: ‘Roma behaved badly with us’.
As a result, Malcom performed a U-turn on a deal to join the Italian giants just before boarding a plane to Rome following a late bid from Barcelona for the Brazilian forward.
Malcom plays in a friendly against AC Milan after his £45million move to Barcelona
The 21-year-old joined Barcelona in July for a fee of £45million, despite Roma announcing that they had agreed terms for the player with Bordeaux.
‘The truth is that we decided not to go to Roma because they behaved badly with us,’ Leonardo Cornacini told Tuttomercatoweb.
‘I was working on a deal for Fuzato, who is another of my clients, but Roma closed it with another agent, although it’s worth mentioning that I have nothing against him. In short, it was revenge.
Malcom’s agent claims they made a U-turn on his move to Roma out of ‘revenge’
‘I’m sorry to say it, but that’s what it was. Roma behaved badly with us, 10 days before with the Fuzato deal, so we acted the same way towards them.
‘Given the attitude shown towards us, I decided, together with Malcom, that the best destination wasn’t the Giallorossi one.
‘And then again, in the same deal for Malcom, Monchi had involved other intermediaries. Today, however, Malcom is happy to be a new signing for Barcelona.’
