Manchester City have inserted a 25 percent sell-on clause into the £8.8million deal that has taken Pablo Maffeo to Stuttgart.
The 20-year-old full-back, who has spent the majority of the past two seasons on loan at Girona, agreed to join Bundesliga side Stuttgart for a club-record fee despite interest from England and Spain.
Spain U21 international Maffeo said: ‘Pep Guardiola has shown me a lot of positives about the Bundesliga and the people in charge at VfB have made a lot of effort on me.’

Stuttgart finished seventh in the Bundesliga after winning their last four games of the campaign, including a final-day 4-1 away win against champions Bayern Munich. They were two points adrift of the Europa League places.
On the signing of Maffeo, sporting director Michael Reschke said: ‘There were several offers for Pablo Maffeo from England and Spain, but he chose VfB. Pablo is a player with a big heart and immense power – he has a massive future as a full-back.
‘I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to Manchester City, in particular Txiki Begiristain and Pep Guardiola, for their partnership in the professional transfer completion and their support.’
