Bayern Munich bookies’ early FAVOURITES to sign Cristiano Ronaldo after he asks to leave Man United

Bayern Munich are the favourites to snap up Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo amid his uncertain future at Old Trafford, according to the bookies. 

The 37-year-old stunned United last week when he told the club he wishes to leave if they receive a suitable offer for him this summer amid his concerns that the Red Devils are not moving forward quickly enough.

The Portuguese forward still ‘has an affinity for the club’ but at this stage of his career, he wants to be playing in the Champions League and does not see that happening at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo did not report for training on Monday due to family reasons but Sportsmail reported on Sunday that he will hold talks with Erik ten Hag upon his return as he looks to resolve his future.

United insist he is not for sale and have underlined that he is under contract for another year, although new boss Ten Hag is indifferent to whether he stays, hopeful that his departure would help fund other transfers.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been talking to clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Napoli over recent weeks to test whether there is a market for his client but no agreement is in place as it stands.

However, the bookmakers already have the odds on the Portuguese star making a move this summer with Bayern Munich the current leading contenders.

The Bundesliga champions have already snapped up a star this summer with the signing of Sadio Mane from United’s arch-rivals Liverpool for £35.1million. 

But Julian Nagelsmann could look to bring in further reinforcements up front, particularly amid claims that prolific striker Robert Lewandowski is pushing for an exit. 

Betfair currently have the German giants as the clear favourites at 9/4 to sign Ronaldo before September 3. 

United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea are the closest at 7/2 as boss Thomas Tuchel could look to replace Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s return to Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been touted to make a return to Real Madrid four years on from his departure from the Spanish capital. 

Ronaldo won 16 honours during his nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu and could look for further success with the reigning LaLiga champions. 

Meanwhile, an intriguing reunion with former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho could be on the cards with a move to Roma at 6/1. 

Ronaldo played under Mourinho at the Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013, winning the LaLiga title and the Spanish Cup during that time. But their relationship was fractious at times. 

Furthermore, Roma failed to qualifying for the Champions League next season and without the offer of elite European football a move would be less appealing to Ronaldo. 

A summer move could also tee up a sensational team-up with rival Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 side signed Messi on a free transfer from Barcelona last summer and were also reported to be a considering an audacious swoop for Ronaldo. 

The Argentine superstar has struggled in France scoring just six goals in the French top-flight, however, potential move to PSG for Ronaldo at 12/1 could be what Messi needs to reignite his career in Ligue 1 and what the fans are so desperate to see. 

Returns to Juventus and boyhood club Sporting Lisbon have not been ruled out either at 14/1 odds. 

While United’s local rivals Manchester City are more unlikely suitors given their recent £51m capture of Erling Haaland and the city’s blue-red divide.
