In a video released on the club’s social media channels on Tuesday evening, Lewandowski can be seen walking up to a camera in Barcelona’s latest strip before looking at his badge and uttering the words ‘Hi, Cules’.

The club announced confirmation of the deal on its website, saying that the Pole had signed on an initial four-year deal for £42.5m.

Lewandowski arrived in Miami on Sunday with the club having reached an initial agreement the day before.

He met his new team-mates then and now, with official confirmation, will be able to take part in the club’s remaining pre-season preparations Stateside.

Confirmation of the deal ends weeks of speculation over the Pole’s future.  Speaking earlier on this summer, Lewandowski stated that something had ‘died’ inside of him in relation to his relationship with the German giants Bayern Munich.

His statement earlier in the summer confirmed the worst nightmare of Bayern Munich fans that their star striker wished to leave the club he joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

In June, he told the Polish sports outlet Sport Onet that ‘they [Bayern Munich] didn’t want to listen to me until the end.

‘Something died inside me. I just want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than the work,’ he added.

‘No other offers were even considered by me other than that of Barcelona,’ he said.

‘During so many years at the club [Bayern] I was always ready, available, despite injuries and the pain, I gave my best. I think the best thing to do is to find a good solution for both sides.’

Lewandowski credited Barcelona manager Xavi with convincing him the Catalan club was the right destination for him, saying that their ambitions were similar.

‘I was speaking with Xavi and from the beginning I know [what’s been on his] mind, his ideas. It was easy for me to decide to come to Barcelona because I’m the guy who wants to play, who wants to win, and I think that with Xavi it’s very possible.

‘He knows exactly how to coach Barcelona because he was an amazing player and now he’s also a very good coach. He has an amazing future and I want to be a part of this as well.’

He added: ‘Finally, I’m here, I’m very happy to be here with Barcelona. The last few days were very long days but in the end the deal is done. So now I can focus on a new chapter in my life, a new challenge.’
