Lecce 1-1 Fiorentina: Antonino Gallo is sent off in stoppage time after being shown two yellow cards in two minutes as Christian Kouame rescues a point for the visitors

  • Lecce opened the scoring through Assan Ceesay to put the hosts in control
  • But Firoentina equalised just five minutes later through Ivorian Christian Kouame
  • Lecce’s Antonio Gallo was sent off after being shown two yellow cards late on

Lecce failed to distant themselves from the Serie A relegation zone after being held to a 1-1 draw by fellow league strugglers Fiorentina.

Marco Baroni’s side opened the scoring at the Stadio Via del Mare as Gambian Assan Ceesay put the hosts in the lead on the stroke of half time.

A lead that they were only able to hold onto for five minutes as 24-year-old Christian Kouame pulled the visitors level.

Lecce’s Antonino Gallo was sent off in stoppage time after receiving two yellow cards in the space of two minutes as the home side managed to savour a point in the high-intensity encounter that saw six yellow cards dished out in the second-half.

A draw was probably the most fair result with neither side dominant in possession or shots on target as both were made to settle with a point that does little to help either side’s hopes for the season.
