Valencia are ‘eyeing up loan move’ for Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek

Valencia are ‘eyeing up a loan move’ for Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek… but his £100,000-a-week wages ‘could be a stumbling block’ with other Premier League clubs interested

  • Valencia are interested in signing Donny van de Beek on loan from Man United
  • The LaLiga side could reportedly look to acquire the Dutchman this January
  • But they may ask United to foot some of his enormous £100,000-a-week wage
  • Van de Beek has failed to get game time at Old Trafford since joining in 2020

Donny van de Beek could join Valencia on loan this January, according to reports, after the Dutchman has failed to secure regular game time at Manchester United.

Having arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 for an eye watering fee of £40m, the 25-year-old has struggled to embed himself in Eric ten Hag’s first team making just four appearances this season across all competitions.

According to TodoFichajes, LaLiga side Valencia are interested in bringing the midfielder to the Mestalla Stadium this January, but could ask the Red Devils to cover some of Van de Beek’s enormous 100-per-week wage bill.

Valencia are reportedly looking to add several new players to their squad, with a midfielder seeming to be Gennaro Gattuso’s priority.

And it seems Van de Beek could follow former teammate Edison Cavani to the Spanish club, who joined Valencia back in August on a free transfer and has been in fine form, scoring four times in six league appearances.

Yet, rumours over Van de Beek’s future have been bubbling for some time , with Leicester reportedly considering a £13m move for the midfielder, while AC Milan were also sniffing at his availability earlier this summer.

The Ajax academy graduate had a bright start to life in Manchester, making 19 league appearances in his first season at the club, but has since only gone on to appear 54 times in just three seasons.

He also spent a season out on loan at Everton, helping the club avoid relegation but struggled with injuries towards the end of the season, playing seven times for the Toffees.

This season has been much the same for the United man, who came back into the fold against FC Sheriff in the Europa League last Thursday after having been sidelined for several weeks with a muscle injury.

After helping them secure a convincing 3-0 victory on Thursday, Ten Hag admitted the midfielder still has a part to play in his side going forward.

‘Donny came in the last part and he also had some good positions in between the lines. I think that combination was good,’ he said after the match.

‘He was a long time out, I was happy to give him some minutes because you need that to get in the right form. He’s had to work himself back.

‘He’s not even one week in training, same as Harry Maguire, so I was really happy to give Donny and Harry minutes because we need them in the coming weeks.’
