Mudryk is keen on joining the Gunners, and watched their 3-1 win against West Ham on Monday night, with the winger posting about the game on his Instagram.

Lengthy injuries to key players, most notably Gabriel Jesus who is recovering from surgery, has left the Gunners short of reliable goalscorers, with Eddie Nketiah currently deputising in the Brazilians absence.

Mudryk would help to combat attacking concerns within the Gunners camp having helped himself to 10 goals in all competitions, with three of those coming in the Champions League.

The Ukrainian prodigy has starred on Europe’s biggest stage this season  and is expected to leave his current club in January with Donetsk keen to secure what they deem as a fair price for the star.

Arteta emphasised Arsenal’s desire to strengthen in the January transfer window having previously stated:

‘We are looking to strengthen the team. This squad still doesn’t have the luxury of not maximising every single window. We have to do that because it’s really important.’

But he added: ‘We have to get the right profile, it has to be the right player to take us to the next level.’

Arteta and sporting director Edu met with owner Stan Kroenke earlier this month and the manager insisted they are prepared to spend on the squad.

‘The ambition is there and the alignment is certainly there as well,’ he said.

Arsenal went seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table after coming from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, the Gunners’ head of emerging talent Yousuf Sajjad is joining Dutch club Den Bosch in a senior technical director’s role.

He has already turned down an offer from a League One club to become their technical director and a further two head of recruitment roles at Championship teams.
