  • Moukoko has hit back at the rumours, insisting he won’t pressured on his future
  • The player’s contract at Signal Iduna Park is set to expire next summer

Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko has claimed he is ‘shocked’ by rumours he has held up contract talks with the club and insists he ‘won’t let myself be pressured into making a decision on my future’.

The 18-year-old, who is currently being chased by Chelsea, has already made a name for himself in Germany and has picked up 11 Bundesliga goals in 44 games since making his debut in 2020 – and his impressive start has brought interest with the player set to become a free agent in the summer.

His contract is up at the end of this season but Dortmund are understandably keen to keep the youngster at the Signal Iduna Park, although reports from Sky Germany had suggested Moukoko was putting off negotiations about a new deal amid interest from other outfits.

He has now shut down these rumours, as he posted on Twitter: ‘Please don’t believe everything that’s been written in the papers.

‘I won’t let myself be pressured into a decision about my future. I will never accept such a lie about me. My full focus is on the second half of the season with Borussia Dortmund.

‘No player is bigger than the club and I will never be bigger than the club, just a small part of it. It’s really sad that something like that is invented just to paint you fans a wrong picture about me. I am really shocked by this story.’

His agent originally claimed his client was not currently set to sign a new deal with Dortmund this week but confirmed there was still contact.

‘I can confirm that we are not about to conclude a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund,’ Patrick Williams told Sky Germany.

‘I can also assure you that the numbers that are circulating are simply not correct and Youssoufa was never offered that much. But we are still in contact with Dortmund and will see what the next few days bring.

‘A player like Youssoufa is interesting for every top club in the world. Especially when he is free and has a future in the German national team.’

Whether he stays at Dortmund or not, Moukoko has already put together an impressive list of achievements.

He is the youngest player ever to appear in the Bundensliga and the Champions League, and became the youngest German international to play at a World Cup when he came on as a substitute in their now-infamous loss to Japan.

Dortmund will next be in Bundesliga action when face Augsburg at home on January 22.
