Transfer news: USA’s Weston McKennie ‘is not in Massimiliano Allegri’s Juve plans’

USA star Weston McKennie ‘is not in Massimiliano Allegri’s Juve plans after Paul Pogba’s return from injury and could leave next month with Chelsea, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund all interested in out-of-favor midfielder’

USA and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has reportedly been told he is no longer in club manager Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.

McKennie had been an important player for Juventus, starting 11 league games and five Champions League games, but the return of Paul Pogba from injury has clouded the path for McKennie to get regular playing time, according to reports in Italy, reports MARCA.

Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham are among the clubs most interested in the 24-year-old, who reportedly has ‘shortage of offers’ from English and German teams.

Along with proving himself at the highest levels of Serie A while also once proving himself in the Bundesliga while playing for Schalke, McKennie has become a staple of the United States midfield as well.

He started in all four games for the US during the World Cup in Qatar, playing a total of 275 minutes.

According to the MARCA report he could move for $21-26million while a separate report from Football Italia stated he would be allowed to leave for around $31m.

The Spanish report also states that one problem teams are said to have been experiencing in negotiations is a supposed unwillingness from McKennie to lower his $2.5m salary.

Whichever team does pay the price for McKennie will get a player who has improved his game greatly since being acquired by Juventus from German side Schalke for around $20m.

He has also started to expand his game, being utilized in a role that allows him to surge forward and attack rather than only playing as a ball-winning midfielder.
